I am planning to model Dearborn Station in Chicago in the mid-1950s, and I am looking for information on the color schemes of the passenger trains that inhabited the station.
I already have information on the Santa Fe, GTW, and Wabash, but I am looking for help on the C&EI, Erie and Monon.
I see photos of the C&EI locos (F3) in blue and orange, but I only see passenger cars in blue. Were there more colorful schemes on C&EI passenger cars in the 1950s?
The Erie colors were green and gold but also gray and maroon. Any help on the time frames for these color combinations?
Lastly, the Monon was black and gold but also, I believe, gray and red. Any help on the time frames for these color combinations?
Thanks in advance for any help that you can give me.

IIRC, the original Monon scheme, adopted in the late 1940s, was gray and red. The black and gold came in the 1960s before the line was absorbed into the L&N.
Erie gray and maroon I believe was adopted after the Erie-Lackawanna merger, as the colors were originally those of the Delaware, Lackawanna and Western.
C&EI passenger cars were blue with yellow or orange lettering, but I seem to remember stainless steel cars as well.
I trust the experts on these lines will have more detailed information.

Dan,
Thanks, that info is very helpful.
Any more info from others would be equally welcome.
That is correct. The grey and maroon came from the Lackawanna in the merger in 1960.

C&WI suburban coaches (ex-Erie Stillwells) were Pullman green with gold lettering.
CSSHEGEWISCH C&WI suburban coaches (ex-Erie Stillwells) were Pullman green with gold lettering.
Paul, thanks for that info. I knew that C&WI suburban coaches were Pullman green with gold lettering, but I had no idea that they were ex-Erie Stillwells. Very interesting.
