THERE ARE TWO LARGE SANTA FE ENGINES RUSTING IN THE YARDS IN SACRAMENTO, RIGHT OFF OFV THE 80 FREEWAY. ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT THE PLANS ARE FOR THEM ?

You might check the California State Railroad Museum's website.  From your location description, it sounds to me like CSRM's "backlot".

Haven't heard of any plans for the poor gals.

The pair are locos #2925 and #5021. 

 

Some info on 5021 can be found at the link below.  Including when it moved to Sacremento.
