Today's photo (Erie 2-8-4 along the Delaware) is case in point why this feature alone is worth the price of the magazine subscription. Beautiful.
CORRECTION TO LOCATION. It is an eastbound alright but east of Hale Eddy and west of Hancock. Route 17/I86 hugs the right of the picture today as does single track and an every other day NYSW turn.
But Aug. 5, 2011...next Friday...westbound well before noon, one will be able to witness Bennet Levin's PRR E8's pulling up to nine private varnish heading towards Corning, NY from Hoboken, NJ at this very location.
FYI: Pond Eddy is on the PA bank between Sparrow Bush, NY and Shahola, PA. Long Eddy is east of Hancock on Rt 97.
