Hi,
an excellent photo of Pennsy's "Skyline" K 4 # 1188 has been posted here:

When I wanted to look up data on the engine in the book "The many Faces of the Pennsy K 4" pages 168 &169 I found that the engine is missing. Can anyone provide the data, please?
Best wishes from Germany, Helmut
Hi Helmut,
That is an excellent photo - thanks for providing the link.
There is an error in the roster in "The Many Faces of the Pennsy K4" - it shows # 1138 but that was the number of a PRR L1s 2-8-2. The number should be changed to # 1188, which is the K4s with the "Skyline" casing which you are searching for. I checked two different PRR steam loco rosters and the information agrees with that shown in "The Many Faces of the K4s":
1188...Construction # 3285...built July 1917...Juniata Shops...retired September 1955
#1188 was running on the western end of the PRR when it had the "Skyline" casing - the PRR M.P.229 "Assignment of Locomotive" forms show the engine on the Northwestern Division/Fort Wayne Division on 11/1/1944 and 10/1/1945. By 7/1/1949 it had moved to the Southwestern Division/Columbus Division and remained there until it was taken out of service in 1955.
