Train-O, my brother died 7 years ago, 4 years older than I, but the tents in France didn't improve his health any.   Can't ask him till I go.  Got a picture somewhere, where?  Can't remember what I did yesterday.  You expect me to remember what was what in 1945 or 1943, some 65 years ago?  Hmm

But he did like sauerkraut which was off limits to the AAF guys; gas producing - not good at high altitudes in Army Air Force planes!Sigh

Great pictures Mike.  FDR didn't have much longer and he looks old.  Don't see how you have the time to research these (and the others) pictures, but they sure are great.

Art,

I'm sorry about your brother, I did not mean to be ignorant, or disrespectful.
My apologies.

Wow, I have to say I'm quite proud of this post. I almost didn't make it, because I was afraid I'd be laughed at for not knowing. Not that I think you guys would be that way. You guys have really answered so many of my silly little questions and I greatly appreciate it.

Wow, 3 pages and still going. I love it.

Train, train, take me right out of this town.

Drove a Jeep.   My unit at Fiort Bragg was designated to put on a demonstration of long-range loudspeaker propaganda broadcasting at an Armed Forces Day event at Boling Air Force Base in Virginia?  (or Maryland?) near Washington, DC.  Great duty.   I was lead officer on the convoy both ways, my driver was  PFC Richard Prunier, and occasionally he took a break and I drove.  This was before the interstates, summer of 1955.  I was a 2nd Leutenant at the time.

Those torpedo Geeps were desIgned by EMD to sink the (GE) U-Boats.

Cronologically incorrect.  The Geep torpedo boat was much earlier than the U boat so was designed to sink the RS2-3's of Alco's stable.  Of course their own turbochargers did them in for the most part!
