I too was surprised to see fares in the Guide. They're not in the 10/62, but the 6/64 shows fares as of 26 Apr 1964:
Chicago to Champaign $3.89 one way coach, Chicago to Fulton $13.16
Memphis to Fulton $3.79, Memphis to Champaign $12.99
Chicago to Memphis $16.85-- so the fare isn't exactly additive, but hopefully we won't be far off if we guess Fulton-Champaign was near $9.20 in summer 1964.
By 1971 the IC did show fares in the Guide (as did SCL, PC, BN, and AT&SF). The one-way coach fare between Fulton and Champaign was $15. As the ICC tightly regulated fares, I doubt that it was much higher than it was in 1961.
The Official Guide only shows routes, schedules and equipment....not fare prices.

Never too old to have a happy childhood!
The 4/61 Guide shows six trains a day Fulton to Chicago; the slowest to Champaign was the Creole (or maybe The Creole) that left Fulton at 0930 and arrived at 1600.
My next Guide is 10/62, so not much help.
I am searching for the name of the 'slow train' between Fulton, KY and Champagne-Urbana, IL December 1961. Any idea of the name - how long it took - how many stops - cost? Any details would be appreciated. Thanks again!
