Posted by richhotrain on Thursday, October 7, 2010 5:45 PM

My son took these photos of the UP 3985 - 4-6-6-4 Challenger in Jefferson City Missouri on Tuesday.

The UP 3985 locomotive was built in 1943 by the American Locomotive Company of Schenectady, New York. It is currently the largest operational steam locomotive in the world.

Very nice pictures. The last photo really puts the size of those things into perspective.
