Norfolk Southern F9A

I happened to be waiting almost 50 minutes at the Morgan St entrance to the Chicago Stockyard Industrial Park grade crossing for a tank car frieght to finally move. When it did, there was a passenger train on the siding that started to go by. I was bugeyed surprised to see a 4 unit, two A and two B units, NS F9A  go by with , I lost count, maroon colored passenger cars, each named for a State, i.e. Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky, etc.. If I'm not mistaking, F9A was a dual power locomotive, it could switch from diesel-electric power to electric power from a third rail. I thought these had run on th New Haven line from Conneticut to NYC. Anyway, seeing this made the long wait worthwhile. I only wish I had my camera. My cell phone does not have a camera. Does anyone know if this train is on a national tour?

The train is the NS executive train. The F9s were restored to operate this train.

The NH dual Power units were model FL9, which were longer and had a three axle rear truck.

Many (33) years ago I saw the BN executive train in Chicago, and that night we saw (and heard) the train, also with four F units, run through La Grange at line speed. It really does make your day to see that and clearly, you don't forget it in a hurry...
