Hi All,
I work for a computer game company, and we are creating a global strategy game that begins in the early 1930's. One of the features of the game will be upgradable transportation, on a regional basis (the whole world is broken up into regions, about the size of a medium sized state in the US, say Kansas). Each region will have a transportation level, and we will have two rail levels.
Do any of you know where I can find maps of rail used at that time, especially in parts of the world where they would be less common, like Africa or Northern Russia or South America? I'm assuming the US would have rail in every state, and Europe also.
Any help would be very much appreciated. We'd like the game to be as accurate as possible.
Thanks!.
For North America, old Official Railway Guides would be a good place to start. For the rest of the world, Jane's World Railways may be helpful. They may be available in college libraries.
You may need to go thru the European countries to find maps for Africa. The majority of Africa was still either direct colonies or 'protectorates'; usually it was the colonial country that built the railroad (U.K., France etc.)
