I know one or two that use this Forum are acquainted with and like the former Great Western Railway. I thought it might be of interest to show videos made this year at a Heritage Week-end. The intermediate station, Churston, famed for being Agatha Christies* local station , is where I am a volunteer.

There are other vids that can be seen but in my view these were the best of the day. The first shows ex Great Western Castle Class 5029 Nunney Castle on the steep climb from Paignton at sea level to 200ft. at Churston (intermediate station) and the second video the return from Kingswear (for Dartmouth) back up to the intermediate station at Churston. The downhill runs (either side of Churston) are not filmed - wwll, folk only want to hear engines working not coasting. Incidentally Agatha Christie home and extensive gardens are above the tunnel. The house is now a tourist attraction.
I hope folk find them enjoyable.
* Just in case someone is not familiar with Agatha Christie, she was a very famous crime mystery writer. Her novels are still highly popular in the UK and frequently tv adaptions are to be seen. A London (West End) Theatre has been playing "The Mousetrap", one of her novels, for over 40 years without break!

Thank You Great Western, I'm 14 again and I just loved hearing her steam. I used to stick my head out the window and enjoy the action back in 1959.Fifty years later 5029 sounds lovely. Chocolate and Cream forever. My grandson will be in for a treat when he comes to visit this weekend. I do miss the lower quadrant semaphore signals and the old style level crossings. Thanks again! I also am an Agatha Christie fan; I read 4:50 from Paddington while riding the Cathedrals Express from Worcester to Paddington powered by 7007 Great Western.
