Cab Forwards on the T&NO

In his recent T&NO book, A.D. McLennan says that Cab Forwards did not venture east of El Paso except for occasional helper duty in the Davis Mountains of West Texas.  Does anyone know any more specific information about these appearently rare appearences?  Time period?  Specific models or engine numbers?
