The first railroad to McKinney was Houston and Texas Central

The Handbook of Texas Online says:

"Farmers and manufacturers were able to ship their goods on the Houston & Texas Central Railway, which reached McKinney in 1872, and, beginning in 1881, on the Missouri, Kansas and Texas Railroad. From 1908 to 1948 the Texas Electric Railroad, running from Denison to Dallas and Waco, served McKinney."

The rail line running in a generally north-south direction through McKinney was originally part of the Southern Pacific.  It is currently owned by Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART).  Union Pacific has retained trackage rights, but I can't tell you if they are being used.

Old rail lines around McKinney, TX

I'm trying to find information concerning old rail lines around McKinney, Texas.  I saw a geophysical map that outlined an old railroad grade that came into McKinney from the East, but I can't find any other information about it.

I would appreciate any information about any other railroad that may have plied the area around McKinney, Frisco and vicinity too.Does anyone have any history about the rail line that traveled from McKinney to Allen and Plano Texas.

I would also appreciate any information concerning the interurban that traveled north and south from McKinney.

I would appreciate anyones information.

Thanks,

Road Fan
