Can anyone out there recall if there was an old rail line that ran out to an old (long abandoned and removed) oil distributor that used to exist along the shoreline of West Bremerton (facing the old East Bremerton coal docks/Lions Field on Lebo Blvd. My grandmother used to point across the water to it and mention the train when I was really small, but I can't locate anything that would indicate that such an operation actually exsisted.
I would sure appreciate someone putting this 50-year brain teaser to rest once and for all.
On a second question, there used to be a sawmill and log pond(long abandoned and recycled into another business) along highway 3 that had a spur into it. Does anyone recall the name of the sawmill?
I would also appreciate anyones knowledge of logging railroads that may have taken place in the Bremerton, Washington area. I recall a monster trestle that used to cross a valley somewhere out in the middle of nowhere beyond Kitsap lake, perhaps out towards Green and Gold mountain.
Thanks.
