Just recently I have become a collector of glass insulators, the kind you still see on what used to be called "telegraph [or telephone] poles."  (The connection to railroading is that the primary RR routes correlated very well with telegraph lines and AT&T long lines, and today a prime site for hunting the old discarded glass insulators is a railroad that is being abandoned. Not to mention some that bear their railways' names.)  There are lots of insulators still riding up there that are 40 to 85 years old, sometimes more, and the hobby that has developed over the past 25 - 30 years has its own fan sites, blogs, meetings, local chapters and LOTS of offers on eBay. 

Is there anyone out there who would like to discuss this arcane hobby with me?  My "specialty" thus far is in the type known as CD154 or 155 (also known as "Hemingray 42" among other names), but I am always eager to expand my knowledge.
