Santa Fe's COAXIAL TRain Concept
Posted by carnej1 on Thursday, November 8, 2007 11:36 AM
I am looking for resources and information on the ATSF coaxial container train proposed in the early 1970's. Basically, this idea was to have a high speed, self propelled container trains along the lines of John Kneiling "integral trains" concept. I gather from pictures that a scale model was built, it resembles a cross between the abortive CSX/CP IRON HIGHWAY integral train, the German Cargosprinter, with styling that brings to mind a Black and Decker handyvac! I am aware that there was an article in the April,1970 NRHS bulletin but I wonder what else is out there. I have exhaustively searched the web and have found only a few references..........

You may want to get in contact with the Santa Fe historical society about this. Sounds interesting.
