You will have far better success on these forums if you post your inquiries on the correct site.

This one is for REAL trains back in the classic era - that's why it is called CLASSIC TRAINS.

Take a look at the heading on the page and you will see a magazine for each of Kalmbach's train subjects.

For model trains - go to the MODEL RAILROADER forum.

Good luck!

Anyone upgraded a Tyco boxcar?

I have a Tyco boxcar that has some sentimental value to me.  I want to upgrade it to metal wheelsets and Kadee couplers.  The couplers won't be a problem.  The problem is the wheelsets: they don't have a screw holding the truck into place, but rather a post split in half with enough tension to press outward and hold the trucks to the underframe.  (Can you visualize that or know what I'm talking about???)  I'm looking for suggestions on what to do to upgrade these.  Right now my best (only) idea is to glue a nut into or above the post hole, attach the trucks then slobber a bunch of caulk on the top (inside) of the underframe and hope it holds.
