Hi Passengerfan (or any other member who can answer),
a couple of weeks ago I won a H0scale brass Hallmark/Ajin Wabash P1 4-6-4 which I have completely overworked and heavily upgraded in detail. So now it is ready to paint, but I am not sure what is the correct blue for it. I also have a nice brass Nakamura J2 4-6-2 factory painted in normal Wabash blue, but I saw some color photos of the prototype P1 where it seems that the P1 blue was somewhat brighter. Or does it delude? If not, do you have some accurate info how to mix the correct paint?
Thank you and greetings from

Jim,
the lettering is blue. I have some color photos where it is clearly visible. Also in the Wabash book I have there it is described as blue. Only the outer edges of the white (or cream, or whatever) stripe are red.
I'm not sure if the blue used on the steam locos was the same as that on the diesels, but if it is, here's a mix that I used on some F-units that I painted for a friend.
9 parts Floquil 110050 Dark Blue
1 part Floquil 110010 Engine Black
The formula is from an article in Model Railroader on painting Wabash diesels in the blue/grey/aluminum scheme, sorry, but I can't recall which issue.
