Now that the candy is going, going, gone!!

And the ghosts and goblins have gone away,

It's time to close our eyes for a LONG train ride to somewhere else.

See where we wake up in the morning!!!

Really? my CPAP macine makes no noise...its the oxygen machine that make all the racket. The CPAP only makes the sound of my breath as I take it. BArely audible.

I wil spit polish the RIvet Counter and apply mother's mag wheel polish on it so watch it everybody..slippery when wet!

SHH!!

I turn in early!!

GOOD NIGHT!!!

Sleep Well!!!.

Happy Halloween to all. I had a 131 kids tonight. That's a pretty low number for around here. A few years ago we would average about 250. Some really nice costumes this year, and I think this years kids have been one on the most polite, with the vast majority saying "Thank You." I don't even mind the older kids coming around, as long as they are having a good time too.

Halloween is one of my favorite holidays, and always has been. Probably because it is also my birthday. However, with the wife in the nursing home, this has been one of the more subdued Halloween's I can remember. We usually have quite a large display of Dept. 56 Halloween Village put up, but we passed on that this year.

Things seem to be going well for the wife. She says the food is pretty good, and she goes to physical therapy twice a day. Last Tuesday they transported her to the surgeons office for an exam and then replaced the cast. We will repeat that of November 11th. I seem to be getting the hang of things around here, even made a chuck roast of Sunday. Turned out pretty good much to my surprise. I usually spend all afternoon with her, and then go back in the evening. I'm glad we were able to get her admitted near our home (15 minute drive) as driving back and forth is sort of tiring in itself.

Anyway, anxious to see where we end up this month. I certainly enjoyed the photos of Germany. I wish I knew where in Germany my Grandfather came from. There are so many things I should have asked my family before they all passed away. Lots of regrets about things like that.

Hope everyone has a good one tomorrow, Tom

Evening folks, anyone yet know where we are?

 Flo, Beer Please.

Todd Thank you for talking to me tonight. For some reason none of the people I talked to at work like the North Star engine, maybe just because they are a pain to work on? Might have found a Town Car I can afford so it might be a mute question. While I am not happy with the mileage might as well call it 200,000 prices is right at $995.00. One owner car from a well to do area and been kept in a garage so paint should be in good shape.

Curt How long of a video can your camera take? What you posted looked very good.

12 Hour Day Well I still feel OK and held up pretty good. What stinks is with the 45 minute drive and with me having to be at work Tuesday at 6:45 AM again. Does not leave much time to chat and drink Beer and get 8 hours of sleep. I got home around 8:00 PM and would have to been in bed by 9:00 PM to get 8 hours of shut eye with getting up at 5:30 AM. Sigh

 Later

'Evenin,

GALAXY: If you're talking about an oxygen concentrator being noisy...when was the last time it was cleaned/serviced??? The foam filters should be cleaned monthly (rinse 'em off in the sink, squeeze 'em dry, stuff 'em back in). The machine itself should be tested at least every other month. If it's making a loud racket...might need some a-justing or re-placin'. I'd have your service provider take a look at it. They "should" be relatively quiet machines. I serviced 'em for just shy of a year and did the annual periodic maintenance (tear 'em apart, clean 'em inside and out, reassemble, test) on a lot of them...'twas the Invacare brand.

Well (cold, toads have gone to their winter place), don't know where we are...but wherever you go, there you are.

Seeya tomorrow folks, thoughts for those in need continue.

Evenin' Folks!

Just a decaf as usual.

Hey!  What are these things in the closet by the door?  Lederhosen?  Lederhosen??  Ah, I get it!  THAT can mean only one thing.......

POLKA!

Huh?  Oh Galaxy is trying to sleep..... Shhhh!  Forgot he turns in early.  What he turns into we don't want to know, but he turns in early........

Only had a few kids here for trick or treat.  Getting fewer every year.  Probably less than 20 and I need the left over candy like........  The best two were the granddaughters who stopped by early.  Later there was a bunch of about 6 or 7 Middle School aged kids.  I looked at them and said, "Hmmm The Middle School bunch I bet?"  They giggled and said yes.  I told them after teaching Middle School for 19 years i could spot a Middle Schooler a mile away.  They giggled some more and grinned, so I gave them extra candy.  They said Thanks, and left.  3 High School kids showed up tonight dressed in suits and ties....  I accused them of impersonating an adult!  They said they "Dressed up for Halloween!"  They got extra candy too!

The motion of the train is making me sleepy so I guess I'll just nap here in the dining car....  i checked out the pullman sleeper earlier and it is way too noisy in there.  All kinds of ZzzZzzZzz, snorking, coughing and the sound of oxygen hissing into some machine..........

Later!

Boy, I'm glad that I caught that grab iron at the last second, otherwise I guess I'd be hand carting behind as we move.

Just stopping in to see how things are going this evening and to welcome everyone to the November diner.  Think I'm going to turn in now, we've got our DM at w**k tomorrow so I have to have my "game" face on for the day and be a selling machine (not that I'm not already).

Ken: Check your PM's sir, you've got some information about your NorthStar engine request.

On our way we will stop by Jeffrey's house trailer and see how many can fit in to see his layout {ala Volkswagon Beetle or telephone booth- for those who remember what eitehr of them is}

Some asked for a warmer locale, so that is just what we did. Wink

Here is where we leave from:

http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/RxyUM6yWDrjZtvGbaJZ8wg?select=qipRSFm2ewuY721HYP6g8g

Where there is no Amtrak or tracks.. we will "imagine" as we travel eastward along the southern most states to Miami Florida, then a tourist jaunt onto the Keys.

We will ask for trackage rights where necesarily and the President has ordered our request be Met bythe RRs. Warren Buffet's routes have his permission to run too. In fact he may pop in and give a lecture on "how to grow wealth my way".

So get ready, should be a smooth ride dust storms, wild fires, droughts  and all!

Good Morning.

It is a dark morning here as we are still waiting for the sun to come up.

Going to be a somewhat busy day here...I've got to pick up a bunch more new prescriptions and groceries...

Then, maybe, I'll get to run some trains in here...

Flo, I'll have a coffee and a breakfast bagel...NO!!! Not the 60lb one!! Why are these things getting bigger all the time?!?!?!?...Just the regular sized on..5" across? You remember those? Thank you...sheeesh...I'll go sit at the corner booth now..it's probably a little safer here in the corner by Duke..that way if things start flying I'll be under the table...

What in the world is that hanging out front!?

Good Morning!! Coffee and them eggs on an English muffin with that sauce stuff on em please. Thank you.

Sunny, with a high near 70.

First a GREAT BIG THANK YOU to Ulrich for th wonderful tour of Germany. I especially appreciated it as that is one country the US is big in and I didn’t get a paid vacation there. I do agree though that the tours should be a “special treat month”. I liked it and it has no reflection on my opinion, I just remember how the food pictures got kinda frowned on by the forum folks and wouldn’t want to get in too much trouble. But maybe a yearly trip somewhere? We can’t all really do that but it would be a great idea if we could and what better place to do it than here. Just me thinking.

Started to come in last night for a night cap…. But…um….ever seen Ray doing the polka in Lederhosen?Indifferent Ya. I decided to just go to bed.

Welp, for all my whining and complaining, the Trick or Treaters were of the appropriate ages and had costumes of some nature. Most all were polite and many had parents standing back and you could hear them ask their kids “did you say thank you” when the child got close to them and most did, parents present or not. Gotta give credit where credit is due. Next year I doubt if it will be the same. So I will start grumbling now.

Thanks Barry, your card is in the mail. You may want to stand out by the mailbox until it gets there…hope there’s enough postage.Whistling

I see Tom noticed the upswing in politeness too. You don’t suppose that may be coming back in style do you?

Happy late Birthday Tom.

Ken- Like I said, I’ve never worked on one so I can’t say if it’s difficult or not. Maybe they are very expensive to have worked on should they need it. However, I have not heard of anything but good about them. Of course I don’t get around like I used to either.

Thayne- Sounds like our house, all the good candy was given away.

Today is the last day I have to go out to Mom’s and check on things. I think…..I don’t know what I think. J.R.’s right. Seems like I’m getting rid of all that is me. All my friends are a result of that house. My whole life actually. No parents anymore, but they lived on in that house. Now all is going away. I didn’t realize just what that house meant to me until it’s essentially gone. Brenda was right. Should have gotten it when I could. I could have got it for a song considering the way the Will was written. Too late now. In a while I will be glad things are the way they are. But for now…..Sigh

Ya’ll have a Great Day!!!

(ahem) Um, the above paragraph about the house being sold sounded....a bit...well it didn't sound quite right. I'm not sobbing or real down in the dumps over it. Just reflecting. Kinda like remembering that fantastic first corny dog and tater tot lunch. Well, maybe a bit more than that, but you get the idea. Dont' send crying towels or call the suicide hot line on me. Laugh

THings that make you go "HHHmmm": First B of A forecloses on a man who pays for his no longer existing house, then they foreclose on a couple who made a payment too early", and they still are making a multi-billion dollar profit. We all know CUDAKEN's story with B of A...I get the impression B Of A doesn't really want their money back on their loans?!?!?!? AMybe they think the real estate will rebound adn be worth more than the outstanding loan amounts?!?!?!?

From Huffingotn Post on AOL startup menu:

Brad Gana, of Seabrook, Texas is being threatened with foreclosure over a home that hasn't existed since it was destroyed by Hurricane Ike in 2008,local Houston 2 News reports. local Houston 2 News reports. Furthermore, after the hurricane, which cost the Texas shoreline an estimated $11 billion in damages, reduced the property to an empty slab of concrete, Gana alleges he continued to make payments.

In the meantime, Bank of America, the mortgage lender, took out a forced homeowner's policy on the property and raised monthly payments. Gana, however, says he was never notified of the change since his mailbox was destroyed by what's come to be known as the third-most destructive hurricane ever to hit the United States.

The story is only latest public relations mix-up for the company that recently lost its status as the largest bank in the country. It was reported earlier this month that one family, also living in the Houston area, faces foreclosure due to an untransferred title and in spite of making payments on time.

In another case, Bank of America foreclosed on an elderly couple in Pasco County, Florida, in part because they made a payment too early.

But it's not just foreclosures that has people angry at the bank. BofA made a $6.2 billion profit last quarter,

Morning All,

At w**k today. Last night I was staring at my layout and realized that I had never painted the Ice House platform so I think that will be a Friday project. Weather is supposed to be good here all week-High's in the 70's and low's in the 60's. We are having one of our two nice weeks of weather here.

Where in Socal are we? I have been to San Diego several times while in the Navy

Tom- Glad your wife is doing well and belated Happy Birthday.

Ken- I'm not sure about the length of video. Wouldn't it be determined by the size of the SD card in the camera? I have a 32 GB Hi Def card in the camera. I don't have a tripod so for me it is easier and smoother to place the camera in one location and run trains by it.

Everybody have a good day.
