Press release from PATCO:

New Weekday Schedule Starts Monday, August 15

A new PATCO weekday schedule will take effect on Monday, August 15, with trains running every eight minutes during rush hours. The time adjustments were developed to increase schedule reliability and streamline rush hour departures with equal time intervals. The new schedule maintains frequent train service to meet current ridership demands.

New schedule at-a-glance:

Weekday Service:

  • Morning Owl Service – No change.
  • Morning Rush Hours – Trains run every 8 minutes for peak westbound travel.
  • Daytime – No change. Trains run every 15 minutes.
  • Evening Rush Hours – Trains run every 8 minutes for peak eastbound travel.
  • Late Evening – Trains run every 15 to 20 minutes.

Weekend Service:

  • No change. Trains generally operate every 20 minutes on Saturdays and every 30 minutes on Sundays.

While the new schedule maintains a high frequency of service, it utilizes fewer trains resulting in less wear and tear on train equipment. PATCO’s Equipment Department works three shifts, day, mid-shift and night, working on repairs, maintenance, and inspections. The department is currently addressing a high volume of repair work orders and is diligently working to address items such as traction motors, wheel replacements, and HVAC issues. Most of the queued work revolves around traction motor repairs. Supply chain and labor issues experienced by our traction motor repair and rebuild vendors have generated a backlog. PATCO is procuring parts materials, evaluating additional vendors, and working on expanding capacity to perform this work at our Lindenwold Maintenance Facility. The new schedule provides the best reliable service to our customers amid these equipment maintenance challenges.

In addition to the new schedule, PATCO will implement new hours for City Hall Station. The station will be open daily from 5 a.m. to midnight. The new hours are the result of low ridership as well as a safety and security measure. Customers are advised to use the larger nearby Broadway Station as an alternate during the overnight hours.
