Technical Issues After August 13, 2012 Maintenance

  • Well, it IS different, but like all the other format changes, we WILL adapt. It may take some time to get used to it, but we will get used to it.

Then we will wonder how it was under the old format.

Like the Borg say "resistance is futile, you WILL be assimilated"!!

    I kinda like it!

How do you quote others as you reply?

    Rich

Click on Rich Formating at the bottom of the post and most all the old stuff is there.......  Quote is right above the response box and below the post you replied to.  This abomination has to be to be more friendly to people who no longer use computers but have their heads in  the "cloud" somewhere........

Use Rich Formatting seems to be the answer to everything.

What the heck does Use Rich Formatting mean anyhow?

    Rich

Rich Text Format (RTF) is a standardized way to encode various text formatting properties, such as bold characters and typefaces, as well as document formatting and structures. By saving a document in RTF, you can open the file in many word processors and other RTF-aware software packages with much of its formatting left intact. Many word processing programs will allow you to save a document in RTF when you select Save As... .

See Microsoft Help and Support article 86999 for the RTF specification.

  • I liked the old Your Discussions tab much better.  It grouped all of my Discussions together regardless of which forum the thread was located on.  Under this awful new fomat, Your Discussions is grouped under each forum.  Now I have to look around ten times instead of once.

  • On a positive note, the number list option  (i.e. 1., 2., 3., etc.) is working once again.

    1. Is it possible to have the "EMAIL ME REPLIES TO THIS POST" check box un-checked as the default rather than the other way around?  I prefer not have reply notices sent to my e-mail address if I forget to un-check the box.  There also doesn't appear to be a way to change that in edit mode once you've posted.

    Holy Batman !

I have about 6,567,894 replies in my personal email box.  Now I see what you mean, Tom.

Turn that stupid "Email me replies to this post" thing off.

It would repeat all the words. For example it would read "GIRLS GIRLS GIRLS".  LOL

  • The question that begs asking, why did they not do this automatically?

I don't care what Rich Text Formating means. It just works.

  • They must have hired the Yahoo's from Yahoo Groups who came up with a similar format for the Group Digests which is impossible to read on one screen and now have to be read on multiple screens to follow one simple conversation.

Also, the old forum was slow, this one moves like molassas in January in Alaska!

Yeah, but why do I have to click on Use Rich Formatting to post a photo or add a smiley face?

Why isn't it all transparent like it was before?

And, techies, please, uncheck that "Email Me Replies to this Post" box before my AOL account explodes.

  • I like it. The larger font makes it easier for older folks to read it.
