Which simulator offers the best signaling, ABS/CTC programming, etc.

  • I'm interested in a train simulator program/game where I can do all sorts of stuff, but the program/game is known to be a 'leader of the pack' when it comes to its signaling, CTC, portion of the game.

I'd like to be able to:

    (a) drive the train, and see a realistic view of the signals, obey or disobey them and enjoy the results of my actions.

    (b) be a CTC/TC operator and monitor/control many trains.

    and if possible
    (c) have a networked version where multiple players on their computers can 'play trains' together.

    Does such a simulator exist?

  • MSTS is great for running trains. You can get all kinds of add on routes and equiptment. You can run by signal indication and some activities have opposing trains that you have to meet. Good graphics and lots of possibilities but I must say the brakeing seems unrealistic (trainline brakes that is)

I just got train dispacher 3.5 and it came with over 200 routes. Very intertaining.

I don't know of anything that can be networked.

A and B are significantly different from each other. Nevertheless nothing is impossible :-)

A is available in a couple of forms MSTS1 or www.zusi.de or the polish simulator EU07.

Trainz 2006 has a significant lack of physics and signaling..

B there are various ones around. www.signalsoft.co.uk offers a freebee (see downloads) and www.train-world.ca is working on one currently.

C might be included in the B one from Train-World. ;-)
