Good morning all. Tue, Wed, and Thr are my busiest days at work, so I'm usually luck to get on here once in those three days, but here I am. UP has 3 MOW gangs working out of the sidings in my little town. They are replacing ties, etc. through town here today, so I think I'll spend my lunch hour down by the tracks watching. After all it is sunny and heading for about 82 here today.

I wonder if Mexicans are envious of Americans on the Fourth of July??? After all that's what Cinco De Mayo is to them. Is it fair that the imigrants get two of the same holiday. Perhaps their envy is more of an everyday thing.

I wonder if the Canadians have as much celebration on July 14th. That's Bastille Day in France. Anyone speaking english in Quebec on that day probably has to go into hiding.

speaking of school, I got a 4.5 day weekend! My dad is taking me out of school and we're going to the WSOR's Janesville WI yards. Its about a 1:45 minutes away. I've been waiting to go here for quite a while, so this is big for me. I'm not going to miss much at school though. they're just going to a camp overnight. Now that I've gotten to the Janesville yards, I've got to sceam away to get to the horicon yards.

I've got a motion to propose. Alot of time, not all the time, but alot of the time, lupo is on here when we're sleeping or trying to sleep. So I propose that we vote him the night watchman of this place, just to make sure it doesn't fall off the first page at night. Ideas? Good? Bad?

From all the partying going on in the States for 'Cinco de Mayo' you would be natural in assuming that it is Mexican Independence Day, but it's not. It's actually the anniversary of the Battle of Puebla, when the Mexican army defeated the invading French army in 1862. While it is a government and bank holiday (and usually a school holiday), there is actually very little celebration outside of the state of Puebla and the official government bash in Mexico City. For most working stiffs it's a day like any other.

Mexican Independence Day (dating from the War of Independence from Spain in 1810-1821) is September 16th.

Okay, there's a bit of trivia you can bore your friends with over your next cup of coffee (or shot of tequila)...........

Remember, in life you will always pay dearly for any time that you take off, from whatever work you do. Because upon your return from your absence, you will have to work at least twice as hard to catch back up. I'm afraid vacations are no bargain if you are the only one taking one.[:0][:(][;)]

worked on the layout from 4 pm to 9 pm last night...managed to get my work bench in and build a place to work on my rolling stock...i'll have a train bring in bad orders right off the layout and onto the work bench...put in a nice multi-wall plug extension for drills, soldering irons, sanders, ect...gonna paint it when i get home and work on the bench work some more...

Still at work this afternoon.
Had a chance this week to work on the railroad at lunch. I fixed a problem spot where the longer cars were un-coupling by themselves. Nothing a hammer on the underside of the benchwork couldn't fix [;)]

Other than that, I've been busy planning a suprise B'day party for the wife tomorrow.
So far so good! She doens't know

I saw the CP Rail Hudson Steam engine #2816 rolling through town (Salmon Arm, BC) last week. They say it'll be back on Tuesday facing the other direction, we'll see. I got really close (grabrails/ handrails) as the crew was taking a break. chatted with them, but then the 2816 got "steamed" [:(!] and I couldn't see a thing for 10 seconds (weird) ... I left.

the weather is not too good overhere, windy raining and about 50-60 degrees, ( 12 - 15 celcius ) getting dryer and bit more sunny towards next weekend.
