Well the Open House was a hugh success. Tons of people were there. [:D] [;)] [:D]

One thing really stood out to me. Now I am not trying to pick on GE but (lol) most of the engines being overhauled there were GEs. [}:)] [:p] [:)] I wonder if that is why the specially painted engine for North Little Rock's Celebration was an EMD? [:D]

They wouldn't let you go up in the cab of any locos. [:(] [V] I have never been in a wide cab and was crossing my fingers that I would get to see inside one.

When we took the school bus tour through the yard I tried to take some pics. I am not sure how they will turn out as the road was bumpy and the driver was driving kind of fast. I saw a good mix of engines from other railroads and a bunch of leased units. There were a bunch of leased units with the UP name and number with a white line through them and the leasing company's name on them. What I don't understand about that is why? If there is a power shortage why is UP selling locos? I saw a CN unit and some ex Conrail units now owned by a leasing company. There was a NS GE unit being overhauled and some older SP units that were also GE. The CN unit and the ex Conrail units were in the yard and not being worked on. They were being serviced and readied for pulling a train.

Since we're on the subject of burgers, Sedalia MO (my town) is home to the world famous Wheel In Drive In, home of the Guber Burger since 1930. Yes, you guessed it, a Guber Burger is a burger with peabut butter on it. Believe it or not, they're pretty good, but I prefer their regular double cheeze burger basket myself. If you're ever in west-centryal MO, it is worth a couple extra miles for a Wheel In burger.

This string gave me an idea for a mini-scene on my layout....a coffee shop full of model railroaders chewing the fat, showing off photographs, admiring new models, turning up their noses at old ones. A waitress is trying to take orders but everybody is too busy chatting....

(Lunchtime for me :-) ) I'll take a Pepsi, 2 Cheeseburgers w/ lettuce, onion and ketchup, and by change, do you cook your fries the way Mickey D's does? cause if so, I'll take a large order of them as well. And for desert.... one of those "super" 5-scoop sundaes that you get at Friendly's with all 5 scoops being Mint Choco. Chip, Hot Fudge, Nuts, Whip Cream and the Cherry to boot as well!

Good Mornin' Everyone,
I'd like a cup of coffe and a danish please. It's about 8:00 AM east coast time, and it's about 40 degrees on the front porch here in the north Georgia mountains. So I'm waiting a little while before I go out to start the day's project. I've got a small tree about 40' tall to take down. That will open up our view of the mountains considerably. It's not a bad tree, it's just in the wrong place so it will get converted into firewood.

After that's done it's down to the railroad room. I'll get the revised roadbed fastened to the risers today on the section that runs from Andrews NC up to Topton, on the summit of Red Marble mountain and down the other side to Nantahala. That's going to be fun.
