For the last four summers, the city of St Paul has had a series of statues based on the Peanuts characters created by the late Charles Schultz, who was a native of St Paul. This program was started in the summer of 2000 with Snoopy, followed by Charlie Brown, Lucy, and Linus this past summer. About 70 statues of each character are made and each is decorated differently, and sponsored by local companies. The statues are placed around the city during the summer months, and are later auctioned off, with the proceeds going to to fund a permenant memorial. This summer will be the final summer for this project, and the new statue was just announced. It will feature Snoopy on his dog house with Woodstock.
