CBQ Denver Zephyr and RI Rocky Mountain Rocket

ALL:

When did the CBQ stop switching Colorado Springs cars out of the DZ and Denver and when did the "Limon Shuffle" end? The DZ continued into the BN era and I don't know the the Rocky Mountain Rocket ended. The original RMR must have been worn out. I only to the RI once from Chicago to Des Moines.

The Denver Zephyr's Colorado Springs cars were handled by the Royal Gorge south of Denver.  They were discontinued Jan 1, 1967.  The Royal Gorge itself only lasted to July 1967.

The Rocky Mountain Rocket was discontined October 16, 1966.  Sleeping and dining cars were dropped in summer 1965.

What did the passengers do for meal? Also it must have been coach only from Chicago to Denvver. Apparently the RI wanted to get rid of long distance passenger trains.

Rock Island relaced the diner with a snack bar coach.  The Chuck Wagon buffet dome on the Denver Zephyr was originally one of the cars that went to Colorado Springs.  CB&Q rebuilt a couple of coaches with snack bars to replace the Chuck Wagon which remained in the train Chicago-Denver.
