ALL:

How many pre AMTRAK railroads provided Kentucky Derby to and from Louisville and what routes did they take?

Also, in 2022 how many specials did the freight railroads run?

For 2022 I am not sure if there were any KD trains operated by the carriers.  Normally there are shots of them showing up on RailPictures.Net several days prior to the Derby - and this year I haven't seen any.

There was an article in TRAINS in the mid-1960's that discussed Kentucky Derby specials.  Derby specials were operated by PRR, C&O, L&N, MON and perhaps others.

The daily commute is part of everyday life but I get two rides a day out of it. Paul

Both the Southern Railway and later NS used to do this on occassion.    Not sure if they did it every year.    I remember also seeing CSX do it one year.    I used to work in the Louisville suburbs.    Have to also say the IT job market there sucks, was happy to leave.    Spent 2-3 years there.   Very people and family friendly though, work was like a second family almost.

I have a "Trains" diskette from 1940 to 2010. The article in question if rom May, 1966 and has many pictures and maps of the glory days of Kentucky Derby Trains.
