All I can say is, this is the most boring Saint Patrick's day I've ever had. Slainte!

One of our state representatives is challenging our governor's authority to shut down bars and restaurants. He's using a provision in the state constitution that guarantees the rights of citizens to assemble together in a peaceable manner, to consult for their common good
Claiming that shared meal times are the common good.
charlie hebdoMiningman's is certainly not a troller and accusations of that are a backdoor approach to censoring him.
I'm surprised by your comment. Don't you know that I'm not intelligent enough to take a backdoor approach at censorship? If I try to censor someone, it'll be right up front and obvious.
York1 John
Thanks, Miningman. I apologize for overreacting.
The phrase about the kooks hit me the wrong way. Sorry.
Ok York 1 , I toned down the language..edited and amended. I suppose it was a knee jerk reaction.
As the OP of the photo and article, I felt folks should be aware and draw their own conclusions without comment. I don't see how anyone's remarks were trolling or irreligious. Miningman's is certainly not a troller and accusations of that are a backdoor approach to censoring him.
I know the Miningman pretty well folks, and trust me, he's no troller.
I was scratching my head over that mass gathering myself, in addition to wondering why the Israeli government didn't discourage it or flat-out stop it, but I don't know what's going on there and what the political or religious freedom ramifications might have been from stopping it so I refrained from commenting on it.
I doubt I'm going to comment much more on COVID-19 anyway. I don't know what more can be said that hasn't been said already.
It's a response to this picture:

MiningmanThe 'Sports' world has more brains and consideration than the religious one... imagine that. All those people have to go home eventually and have contact with another hundred people who in turn... and so on. Stupid is as stupid does but why put innocents in danger, sanctioned by kooks at that.
I'm not sure how to respond to that comment.
Did you post it to troll other posters here?
I really don't know what else to say to you. This is a railroad site made up of posters of all backgrounds and beliefs. You might want to post comments like that somewhere else.
+1 I hope they remembered to wash their hands after they were done praying.
NKP guy This might be a simple test for those who believe the public is "over-reacting": 1. Which airline or Amtrak tickets have you bought this week or are willing to commit to for next week? Round trip JAX to BNA and AUS. 2. Name the common stocks you bought this week or will commit to for next week. Plenty, now is the time to buy. Picked up some airline stock last week, have a couple other industries that I am looking to pick up this week. There are plenty of bargins out there if you look past the next couple of months. It is funny how people on this site blast wall street as being short sighted in their ownership goals, well put up or shut up. 3. Which hospital or nursing home have you visited this week or are willing to commit to visiting for next week? Most of those have restrictions now on who can show up. Since I don't know anyone close in either, I have no reason to go. 4. Which friends or family members are you concerned about as it pertains to COVID-19? The same ones that I am concerned for getting cancer, flu, broken bones, so and so forth. Answers: Don't assume about, or speak for other people.

An "expensive model collector"
Italy:27,980 confirmed cases 2,158 deaths, mortality rate is 7.7%. Italy has an older median age than the US, but ours is older than China's. So the next time someone says this is no worse than seasonal flu (0.1%), they are simply wrong. We don't really have enough information because of the failure to have testing kits and labs even now to know what our mortality rate will be, but likely 1-2%.
But, older adults have been hit the hardest in China. The death rate soars to 14.8% in those 80 and older; among those ages 70 to 79, the COVID-19 death rate in China seems to be about 8%; it’s 3.6% for those ages 60 to 69; 1.3% for 50 to 59; 0.4% for the age group 40 to 49; and just 0.2% for people ages 10 to 39. No deaths in children under 9 were reported.

The photo has nothing to do with religion. I posted that photo of a huge crowd to show that some places are not taking the coronavirus very seriously.
Paul of Covington Just an aside: Do you realize how hard it is to keep your hands away from your face?
Most of the accounts I've seen mention to not touch your face (after touching foreign surfaces) before washing your hands. So a bar of soap and a sink before bedtime can negate the need for handcuffs.

Posted mainly because of five recorded recovered
he number of Israelis infected by the novel coronavirus, COVID-19, rose Tuesday morning by six people to 304, according to the Health Ministry.
Among the infected are three people who work in the Central Laboratory for Detecting Coronavirus of the Ministry of Health at Sheba Medical Center in Tel Hashomer. On Monday, the lab was shut down because its deputy director-general became infected. The new diagnoses include two additional staff members, Kan news reported.
There are four patients in critical condition, 11 in moderate and 284 that have mild cases of the virus, according to the ministry report.
So far, five Israelis have become infected with but recovered from COVID-19.
Some 223 people are hospitalized, 15 are in the check-in process and will be hospitalized by the end of the day, and 46 patients are being treated in home-isolation.
On Sunday night, a senior doctor at Ichilov Hospital was reported by Ynet to have contracted the virus. All of the patients in her unit – many of them senior citizens – had to be tested and transferred to another unit, and her staff was sent home to self-isolate. The next morning, an intern in the hospital’s urology department also tested positive for coronavirus.
In addition, the IDF confirmed that patient No. 273 is a 19-year-old soldier from the north of the country. She is in mild condition. The IDF Medical Corps. and the Ministry of Health are together conducting a comprehensive epidemiological investigation and will share that information soon.
Concerning the massive prayers for recovery at the Western Wall:
1, If one Dave Klepper had posted it, would someone, maybe even the moderator, considered it injecting religion into the discussion and removed it?
2. Be assured, that first of all I am a Doctor's son and retain huge respect for the medical profession. Our doctors currently tell us to stay away from crowds. Second, my Yeshiva's rabbis and teachers also believe in foillowing doctors' advice, and neither I nor any of my fellow students harkened the call of Tsvat's local rabbi. We don't need to gather in a huge crowd to pray for the cure or for the Chinese people. We do add the appropriate Psalms that speak of healing to our regular prayers.
Third, if the Chinese Ambassador saw fit to be present at that huge prayer gathering, perhaps this can result in ending persecution of Christians in China?
Now I am asking those of you who are Christians or anyone living outside Israel in a Democracy, especially if you are one of the lucky few who got to China in time to witness first-hand the World's last great steam locomotive main-line high-tonnage panorama and can reflect on your experiences, to:
Use this opportunity. Print out the news story and send it with your own personal letter to the Chinese Ambassadors to the USA or Canada or whatever, and their Ambassador to the UN. "Stop persecuting religious Chinese and maybe the prayers said in Jerusalem will do some good for you!"
Now why don't I write the letter? Religious Jews in China, today, are all foreigners. And are not persecuted. China wants good relations with both Israel and all the Arabs and Iran. Offically, the Chinese Government considers our Jewish religion as part of our Nationality and thus they have an excuse for not persecuting us in China. The Israeli government has enough to worry about concerning our developing trade and educatiional ties with China, and keeping this from in any way hurting USA interests, without my adding another issue. But you are free and clear to use this story.
And let us hope that someday they will stop persecuting Tibetans!
Just go to a vet and get a 'cone of shame'! [:D]
Never too old to have a happy childhood!
Just an aside: Do you realize how hard it is to keep your hands away from your face?
Yep. I don't even try. And if I'm in bed what am I supposed to do, handcuff myself to the bedstead so I don't do it while I'm half-asleep?
I was never into the "handcuffs on the bed" thing to begin with.

Bambi-Burgers! Yum!
Well, just got back from a supply run
Needed to go by the local IRS office for tax forms, had to submit to a weapons check AND a "touchless" body temperature screen...both seemed reasonable. They had all the common forms but were completely out of Schedule C, it's instructions, and form 8965 and it's workbook, with a near zero likelihood they will restock by deadline time
Went to Walgreen's,...none of the "hoarding" items in stock, was surprised to find a bountiful supply of vitamin C, but $35.00 per bottle in a buy BOGO free offering. And I inquired about pneumonia shots only to learn that one has to be 65 or older to get one without a prescription, and at 62 they turned me away...
Went to a restaurant I've been going to for years, carry-out only which was not a problem, but they refused to allow me to use the restroom, citing state restrictions. I pointed out there would be less than 50 people in the restroom, but they remained unmoved.
Stopped by the bank to get $1,000.00 pocket money, just in case, and learned I was far from alone in that quest. And they had hand sanitizer...oh joy!!
Gasoline was down to $1.87/gallon for mid octane, so I topped off just to be prepared.
Now I can stay home in peace and not worry about the little things. Just gotta download those missing tax forms and hit Office depot to get them printed and it'll be smooth sailing.
DeggestyCould that be classified as protecting your food supply from invaders?
It likely varies from state to state, but I think the accepted term is "varminting"
