Thank you for the links. The first link isn't easy to understand without the according drawings but I'll try. I have especially problems with what Overmod said: There was a steady clicking audible feedback, which to the engineer meant 'all clear'; any action the system took in early stages of an "alert" was advisory, to concentrate attention on specific things about to happen and giving adequate time for a proper professional response.
