Only two. Thus when one or both sets get seriously late the only options are to attempt to 'run it back on time' or eliminate a complete round trip from the schedule. At present according to Dixieland (http://dixielandsoftware.net/cgi-bin/getmap.pl?mapname=East)the Northbound Auto Train departed Sanford 6 hours 45 minutes late and the Southbound Auto Train departed Lorton 2 hours 45 minutes late.
With no hiccups - Auto Train 'can' gain about 1 hour per run. End of line servicing 'can' save a few hours when pushed. Of course to gain anything - EVERYTHING must go 'right'.
