Until Brian gets around to releasing this story, all you can read is the comments if you're not a subscriber. Some of those are valuable, though.
The actual story is here, in the Urinal-Sentinel.

Thats where I run into problems with quoting NEWS WIRE. Milwaukee Business Journal also blocks non-subscribers. Journal Sentinel will allow 1 or 2 views of articles and then block or something along those lines. If I link to Railway Age or cut and paste from them.......suspension is usually the punishment if they catch you because it is considered a competing publication. That and their stories are all copyrighted usually.
It's good news for both states.
I'm wondering about the propriety of reprinting the open access J-S article behind a Trains paywall.

I say 'let the folks at Kalmbach that did it worry about it.' One would hope that people so solicitous over the niceties of Forum posting would have secured the necessary permissions to do it themselves ... and if not, it's their lawsuit.
According to what I've read so far here, the article isn't completely 'open-access' either, so there really isn't a defense of 'fair use' if Trains actually provided the whole text and the Journal were inclined to regret the 'free publicity'.

zardozI wonder how long it will be before Foxconn demands a spur to their facility for passenger traffic from both Chicago and Milwaukee. Or course, there already is an abandoned ROW extending west from Sturtevant, all the way to Burlington. Not only that, the Foxconn site is only 1-2 miles west of CP's C&M sub.
Ah, the former Southwestern Passenger route to Kansas City from Milwaukee.
I think they would if anything shuttle bus to the existing train station. They were talking about a regional bus from Milwaukee to the complex at one point which I think ignored the rail potential. They probably need to enlarge both the Airport Station and the Sturtevant Station. Airport is packed with people at times waiting for a train with overflow outside. Sturtevant wasn't built for FOXCONN in mind.
That assumes that the Foxconn facility will ever employ many humans.
