So now the AP intimates that Trump is responsible for abnegating the ARC tunnel funding, and the unwitting reinforce that idea?

Guess Governor Christie isn't enough of an attractive target any more.

In any case, what Cuomo needs to be concentrating on during that 'appearance' is where he's getting New York's share of the money to renovate the North River Tunnels after Gateway is built.  Which will be at least half of the cost.

What is bothering this poster is what has Amtrak done to protect the North River tunels from more damage from another "Sandy" type occurrence ?  Shouldn't we have expected Amtrak to have installed flood gates to the tunnels by now ?  6 years should have been 3 times too long ?  The only possible problem would be providing for flood gates to clear the tracks.  That could be mitigated by paving over the track approaches such as at grade crossings.   CAT could have switching system similar to drawbridges and the third rail just a gap.

Is that something Amtrak could have done alone or are other railroads involved. I don't know who owns the tunnels other than Amtrak.

Some road tunnels got flood gates.
