One eyewitness report stated that he apparently didn't realize he was in a quiet car and promptly ended his phone call when informed by the conductor.

At least he was taking the train and not a private jet to get to his destination.

[Disclaimer: I rather like Gov. Christie]

#1 Campaigning politicians don't travel alone, even ones whose campaigns have failed.  They have a fairly large entourage.

#2 Even though it normally would be pretty obvious to most folks traveling alone that they've entered a Quiet Car, it would not be immediately so in a group.
