The new route directors, who are responsible for controlling the long distance train losses, will have any plans to make significant changes in the long distance trains thwarted by the 535 egotistical, independent contractors in the U.S. Congress. And the downstream decision makers that report to him or her will see their decisions fall into the same pit.</span></p> <p><span>After 40 years of racking up billions in losses, the long distance trains, which don't come close to covering their operating costs, let alone their fully allocated costs, are not likely to turn profitable. Or stop bleeding Amtrak dry!</span></p>
