Does anyone now how the Chinese  RRs are doing during this year's new year celebration ?  Heard that there was a lottery for the right to purchase a ticket.?  Do they operate extra sections on normally slack times ?  On time operation ?  Cancellations ?  etc ?  any links ?

1  Do not know if there were any specific problems

2 There were lotteries.  Folks I know all got tickets.

3. Some additional cars on loose car trains; some additional trains.

4  No info on cancellations, timekeeping, but my friends did not report any problems.

The 40-day spring travel rush starting on Jan. 16 and ending on Feb. 24 will transport 3.6 billion passengers this year, 200 million more than last year, according to the National Development and Reform Commission. It is estimated that about 5.04 million passengers will take trains in Beijing West Railway Station during the Spring Festival travel rush.
