Abandoned Amtrak locomotive and baggage car in North Philadelphia

If you are traveling by train between Philadelphia 30th Street and Frankford Junction (where NJ Transit turns off to Atlantic City), you will notice an abandoned and graffiti-laden locomotive and baggage car that with a faded pointless arrow Phase II Amtrak paint scheme next to a building that either is or was a factory. This will be on your right when traveling north or on your left when traveling south. Engine appeared to be either an E or F unit and the baggage car looked like it was definitely from before the 1990s. Anyone notice this before? Anyone know the full story? Is it still there? (It was still there as of last year though)

I don't know the story, but I think it's safe to assume those pieces of equipment aren't strictly "abandoned."  They're certainly owned by someone.  Possibly an historic group storing them there until funds for restoration are raised?  Possibly they're waiting for a permanent home?  Anything's possible.

I'll bet it was Juniata Terminal - Eric and Bennett Levins's shop.  The E is probably the parts-feeder for their two, gorgeous PRR E-8s.
