<p>What would it take to get the public (tax payers) to be more supportive of expanded passenger rail?  Here is a hint.  The average price of a gallon of regular gasoline is $3.07.  Some experts say the average price will hit $4.00 per gallon by Memorial Day.  And John Hofmeister, former president of Shell Oil Company, predicts that gasoline will be $5.00 per gallon by the end of 2011 or the beginning of 2012.  If they are correct, passenger rail advocates may find heaps of supporters. </p>
