<p>Whether people are aware of the subsidies received by all or nearly all forms of transport in the U.S. does not change the subsidy.  It is still a payment that is not covered by the user fees.  It is, in a sense, a hidden tax.  </p><p>The question in my mind is who received the subsidies and what economic and social value goals are achieved as a result.</p>
