There is a big day planned in Chicago on Saturday, Oct. 1. That is the day the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) will celebrate its 75th anniversary.  from a major story in Railwayb Agem with historic photos, etc:

The CTA has come a long way since it took over the operations of Chicago Surface Lines and Chicago Rapid Transit Co.  Equipment was modernized fairly quickly and several new rapid transit routes have been opened.  Despite the litany of complaints from riders, it still serves almost all of the city quite well.

The daily commute is part of everyday life but I get two rides a day out of it. Paul
