BNSF has acquired a couple of “new” former HLCX GP60s.

Unlike BNSF #170 that was rebuilt from a cabless GP60B, these former HLCX units are original spartan-cab GP60s. They were originally built for the Texas Mexican Railroad, spent time with the Vermont Railway and then spent several years as HLCX lease units. Now these GP60s have found a new home with BNSF, and #170 still wears it’s original TexMex paint with a recently applied BNSF patch. BNSF must really like the high-hp 4-axle 60-series EMDs since they took the effort to acquire more of them:)

That should read BNSF # 169 still wears its Tex-Mex paint with BNSF patch.
BNSF must really like the high-hp 4-axle 60-series EMDs since they took the effort to acquire more of them:)
They traded six SW1000 and SW1200 switchers to Helm Leasing to get them, no money involved.
