844 Oklahoma trip
Posted by UNIONPACIFIC4018 on Saturday, September 1, 2007 9:08 AM
The UP has posted the trip outline on its trace map and it shows the locomotive going down to Chico, Texas. When I have zoomed in there is wye trackage there.  I am assuming they will turn the train there to head back. Anyone else here think the same thing?

The info I have is:

8 Sep    On display in Wichita

 9 Sep    Move to Enid

10 Sep   On display at Enid

11 Sep   Move to El Reno

12 Sep   On display at El Reno

13 Sep   Move to Waurika

14 Sep   Move to Chico, do the wye, return to Waurika

15 Sep   Move to Chickasha

16 Sep   On display at Chickasha

17 Sep   Move to Enid

18 Sep   Move to Wichita

This info is several weeks old.  I have been trying to confirm it, without success so far.  Are OK and TX fans planning anything as a group?

Please see the thread "UP844 in Oklahoma for the 'Centennial Steam Special.'"

UP web site has the schedule here.  I guess that is confirmation.

It says on the schedule it will arrive in Chico, Texas and the train will be turned on a wye. After doing a satillite search you can see the wye and it feeds some huge industry there. So if schedule permits our family will run to Chico to see the turn of the locomotive.

Sorry, I have nothing on the Katy.  I grew up in Massachusetts and hung around the tracks a lot.  Funny, how you forget things, though.  I knew more then than I can remember now, so I'm re-learning a lot.  And some things we just didn't see on our branch line.  I never saw a stoker or an oil burner, for example.

And I don't know what happened to my pictures from that time.
