TRAINS SPOTTING DOWNUNDER
Posted by Anonymous on Monday, October 30, 2006 5:06 PM
Now that summer is almost here in AUSTRALIA , trainspotting takes on a whole new meaning with super freighters departing ACACIA RIDGE (BRISBANE FREIGHT TERMINAL ) earlier due to daylight saving in the southern states not in QUEENSLAND.
All trains including the XPT
( EXPRESS PASSENGER TRAIN ) departing BRISBANE for SYDNEY an hour earlier .
The XPT takes just over 14 hours to travel from ROMA STREET STATION to SYDNEY CENTRAL

SA,

Just curious:  Are EMD "AA" units still running in Australia or have they been retired?   These look like the American "E" units except that they have cabs on both ends.

Thanks!

"I like my Pullman Standards & Budds in Stainless Steel flavors, thank you!"

Check this link for lots of information about Australian motive power:

http://locopage.railpage.org.au/

You'll find double-ended bulldog noses under VR (A and B classes)and 645-powered single-cab versions under CR/SAR-AN-ASR (CL/CLF/CLP classes)

The daily commute is part of everyday life but I get two rides a day out of it. Paul
