Western Maryland - "Wild Mary" because there was no room for tangets in the curves. They were focused on getting freight over the mountains and valleys as fast as steam power can do it. Even at a cost of a few broken drawbars and a few dizzy crew.

What are your Favorite Railroad Nicknames?

I'm partial to nicknames road employees gave railroads usually based on the letters painted on the tenders or engines.

I would love hear how others refered to different raillines. I'll start:

My favorite is from the Nevada County Narrow Gauge Railway,

NCNG....Never Comes, Never Goes.
