I have heard (or possibly read in TRAINS some time ago) that Flatonia, TX is an excellent spot for trainwatching, due to heavy UP traffic. I also seem to recall hearing that the old SP Flatonia tower has been made available for railfans to watch UP trains.

I will be in the Flatonia area in a couple of weeks and would like to do some railfanning. Can anyone confirm or deny the information about the traffic volume and the tower?
