April 12, 2006 <br /> <br />Toyota Recognizes Norfolk Southern With Logistics Awards <br /> <br />NORFOLK, VA. - Toyota Logistics Services has awarded Norfolk Southern <br />Corporation (NYSE:NSC) the 2005 President's Award for overall logistics <br />excellence among rail carriers, its highest award given to a logistics <br />provider. <br /> <br />The award is based on overall performance in three categories - <br />customer service, on-time performance and quality. <br /> <br />"To be recognized as a top-performing provider of logistics by a <br />world leader in quality and service is high praise indeed, and we are <br />grateful for the honor," said Donald W. Seale, Norfolk Southern <br />executive vice president and chief marketing officer. <br /> <br />Norfolk Southern also received Toyota's Logistics Excellence Award <br />for On-Time Performance among rail carriers. <br /> <br />During 2005, Norfolk Southern transported Toyota vehicles <br />throughout its network, including those originating from NS-served <br />plants in Georgetown, Ky., and Princeton, Ind. <br /> <br />Norfolk Southern Corporation is one of the nation's premier <br />transportation companies. Its Norfolk Southern Railway subsidiary <br />operates approximately 21,200 route miles in 22 states, the District of <br />Columbia and Ontario, Canada, serving every major container port in the <br />eastern United States and providing superior connections to western <br />rail carriers.
