In Aug i will be 23. Some people say i look like 16,17 or 18 years old, but i am than some of you are 11-18 year olds. Old enought to see conrail in 1992-1999 bye conrail it was a good railroad, & see CSX and NS take of former conrail lines.

I am a new member and have been reviewing old posts starting at the back and working forward. A great way to learn a thing or two and to get familiar with some of the others here--at least those who post often. I was intrigued with the ages that have been reported. For a long time I thought I was going to be the oldest member at 76--though I don't (always) feel that age. Fortunately I found a few other "old geezers" so I can now feel a little younger. I'm not really a train buff but I enjoy the magazine and also this forum. I do hope I have a few less typos in this than I see in many other posts. Maybe we need spellcheck.

42 w/a birthday coming in May. My girlfiend just turned 29. She makes me feel much younger. I am old enough to remember the Rock Island, Santa Fe black & white switchers, 40 foot boxcars hauling grain, SF stockcars, pre Amtrk trains and cabooses. The good ole'days long gone by.

I became 74, legally, on 25 January, and I remember Central of New Jersey 4-6-0 camelbacks on the Jersey Shore New York and Long Branch and B & O camelbacks on the Staten Island Rapid Transit (freight service). Also barely remember the last of the Green Lines (already owned by GM), New York Railways 86th Strreet Crosstown in Manhattan bussed the summer of 1936. Most of all remember the terrific job the railroads and streetcars and rapid transit did in WWII. And believe the USA MUST be prepared to be energy independent as soon as possible.

Also have dim memories of the New York Central's West Side Freight Line before it was covered over by Riverside Park.

i saw somewhere, on some tv program, that 2 engaged people spent $5000 on a (fake) minister, church, and reception, for an april fools wedding! halfway through the reception, they reveiled the WHOLE thing was an April fools joke to ALL of there family and freinds!!

always loved it when i had my z28 racing those kids in their fart can pipe cars. they thought their*** didn't stink, but after the dust settled they knew where their place was. lol waayyy behind me.

I prefer a PSD to prove my point in a cloud of diesel smoke, but a z28 is good.

Well about all that my parents will let me say is that I am still in high school.

On the question of driving I think my first time was 8 years old, so forget Canada all you have to do to be able to drive is get out of the city. If you are on a farm you can drive at any age you want.

However after you get past the age when you are just driving on the farm, you get tired of driving. It is not fun, so those of you who can't drive yet don't be in any hurry. Just enjoy taking the bus or getting driven everywhere by your parents.

well here in Aus you cant LEGALLY drive till your 16 1/2 when you get a learners then you get you Ps when your 17 and stay on them for 3 years then you get your open licence, Ps just mean you have 8 demerit points instead of 12 for your license and on your learners you only get 4! whats the rules in the US?

I, for one, love getting older, and we all know there is only one alternative...getting dead! Time will come when I'd rather get dead than get older, but I'm planning on decades of service life on this frame built in 1942. Having just retired, I'm excited to be spending "monopoly money" from now on! Who amongst us would trade for today's gang/drug/AIDS infested youth? I much prefer my never-lock-your-door-steam railroading youth, with my memories, any day.
