I spent most of my youth in Oklahoma, and I have to favor the Frisco, Rock Island, and Katy MKT railroads. In the good days the Katy ran red diesels with yellow cars....the best color combination ever. Sadly, why did Katy turn green?

CN is the cats *** when it comes to making money for its upper echelon and major shareholders. But when its comes down to the Canadian public, minor industry and its employees it's a dismal failure. Hillbilly Harrison treats his people low down on the totem pole with such contempt that I would advise anyone with even a tiny morsel of pride and decency that wants a job with CN to look elsewhere. His disdain shown towards the Signal Department is simplistic and very unprofessional for a CEO of his supposed stature. What makes this even more disgusting is my union, the IBEW, doing nothing. Maybe Trains magazine should do another article on CN from prospective of the rank and file. A once proud Canadian institution destroyed. Gene B.

-It was voted most noticable paint scheme (the 1998 Beaver paint scheme)
Serivice is friendly
Customer relations and support is/are great.
passenger cars as beatiful on the outside as they are on the inside.

2. CN CN CN CN (www.cn.ca)
somewhat bigger then CP rail, The Canadian National continues to Grow as we speak. The easily recognizable Red/Black paint scheme is a

3. CSX
I just love the paint scheme

now i'm gonna cheat -

678,957th place is: BNSF

The whole orange deal on their locomotivbes clashes with all its surroundings. They really need too lose the Orange paint scheme. its really a deploring sight.
don't get me wrong the old "Santa FE" red/yellow/gray was great.

Cheers,

Lets throw some new names out there. I would have to say Chicago Northwestern, Milwaukee Road - Hiawatha trains some of the best looking and fastest ever. Green Bay and Western ran Alco's and cabooses right up to the end.

Canadian National, Canadian National, Canadian National. This company really got there act together. (Not to mention I made BooKoo bucks from there stock.) This company is moving in the right direction, and with it's routes has potential for even more growth. They have a exellent managment team in place. If I were Union Pacific, I would be worried about this company. If CN keeps growing, UP is going to find it is no longer the big boy on the block.

Ok I got to break the rules. My fave 3 are the Pensey, CNW, and the UP. A 4th runner up would be NYC. UP would have to take #1 because they are the only ones standing still!

Current or past roads?
You didnt qualify which, so...
in no paticular order,
Pennesy, class act passenger and freight,
UP, still doing business, leader in inovational locomotives.
Santa Fe, really class passenger service, a paint scheme everyone reconizies, and I have never run into a former Santa Fe employee who didnt love working there.
Stay Frosty, and let the fights begin..
