One big mistake that we have made in this country for years is that there are two different types pf railroad lines. Passanger and freight <br />Just cause a line make a good freight corrider does not mean it will make a good passanger corrider. The opposite also works. Too, passanger trains need to be isolated from freight trians so that they can move faster without interuption. <br />There have been plenty of lines that have been abandoned by the freight carriers that should have been taken over by Amtrack and used as passanger only lines. And yes they need to be carrying mail box cars on the rear and tell the freight carriers to get lost and stop complaining about the silly competition. They just can not got from end to end of the country in 24-36 hours. Like I said, people only have so much patience.
