This summer seems to be more relaxed since 9/11 I got my first unit ride since 911 this year since 911.
Track Maintance seems to be more of a issue as trains have slowed down and train traffic has gone up. Expect more Z train or trains of other roads using other railroads tracks. Train Traffic is up but ontime performance is down. We hope to have all the maps we have collected cataloged AFTER we have completed our PACNorthwest Highline Schedule.
New rail-trails have been completed in Ohio as in the Astabula To Warren Youngstown Trail which will allow for hobos with bikes to connect from Lake Erie to the Youngstown New Castle Area.
The Weather has been nice and the YMCAs have been more co-opretive in allowing showers.
We now have a major shareholder of CSX who is a freind of Michael Ward Of CSX. I am aquiring shares of CSX and NS for a founadtion that will raise funds for homeless sheters near the routes of such railroads. We will attend both the shareholders meetings of CSX and NS.
My main concern is defered maintance of CSX Boxcarsa dn the future of the Boxcar period in light of intermodal. My main concern with NS is there negative attitude tward Commuter Rail and Amtrak. NS does not want passengers of any kind on there rails let alone the ocasional hobo. NS hostile & negative policy twards it employees has caused poor service problems with Conducter being afraid to even give a hobo directions to the right trains as is tradition.
UP has been cool so far and is is not as hot as is years past.
Metra now allows bikes on trains which allows for easer tranfering between yards in the Chicago area. The Problem is the south shore with still does allow bikes and has a poor custumer sservoce problem.
Stay the hell out of NYC for the next 4 months till the heat wears off and tempers cool. Now would be a great time to head up to Canada where people are nice and so is the weather. Be Safe!
