I would like to see a cutaway diagram of a railroad electric traction motor. I'm fascinated by the idea that motors of such relatively small size---fitting in a small space by each axle---are so powerful. I'm just wondering what the windings and so on look like and how exactly they're attached and connected to the drivers on a diesel locomotive or light-rail vehicle (or even on one of the old-time trolleys).

Is anyone aware of such a diagram or picture online? Thanks.
