On the northeast corridor, both CSX and Norfolk Southern operate their freight trains on Amtrak's main line. My question is, I've seen many CSX trains that have a variety of different railroad company engines. For example: a CSX train with Sante Fe , BNSF, HCLX engines.....is their a rule that if the CSX train's consist includes these other railroad's engines, does a CSX engine have to be the 1st unit?? Also, what is the rule when these freight trains are operating on their home road with a variety of engines, i.e. must it be a CSX engine as the 1st unit?
